Impact of Project Maturity on Project Performance: A study of Development Sector in Pakistan

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship subsisting between the Project Management Maturity and the organizational Project Management Culture and then relate it to achieving the resultant project management performance.

Design/methodology/approach – This study used 107 responses to a web-based questionnaire to identify the variances in Project Management Maturity and its relation to project performance in the presence of Organizational Project Management (Culture). Correlation, Regression analyses and the moderation were used to identify, how Project Management Maturity related to project performance.

Findings – The paper identifies that Project management maturity is statistically reliable and valid tool for project execution in the presence of Organizational project management culture.

Research limitations/implications – The results show the project management maturity and organizational project management culture have positively related to successful project Performance.

Practical implications – The results indicate that organizations must produce high performance project management maturity levels under strong organizational project management culture, in them, to become more effective organizations.

Originality/value – The paper builds on prior work in impact of project management maturity on Project Performance and is the first study to identify a relationship of both with organizational project Management for project success.
